Fast Learning Sprint (FLS)

Fast Learning Sprint (FLS)

Objective:

Fast Learning Sprint, or #FLS, is a fast-paced, time-bound system to upskill team members at Crownstack. In this program, each sprint, which lasts for two weeks, we decide on a topic to learn. The topic is decided by department heads (delivery, engineering, HR), which is relevant for team members for their growth in the short term.

How #COMET quarterly learning goals are different than #FLS:

  1. The duration of quarterly learning goals is 3 months, while for #FLS it is 15 days, i.e., the length of the sprint.
  2. Team members can decide the #COMET goals based on the guidelines published by the company, while #FLS are decided by department heads.
  3. Team members are free to commit themselves to a sprint’s learning goal depending on their workloads in a project. Also, they can commit to a topic of their choice. They can pass on a learning goal if they do not like the topic or they are too busy with their day-to-day work.

Guidelines:

The #FLS has the following characteristics or process:

  1. At the beginning of each sprint, a one-pager document will be published explaining the learning goal of the upcoming sprint.
  2. People are asked to participate in this learning sprint and commit themselves to the learning goal of the sprint.
  3. People can decide to opt out from the #FLS if they do not like the topic or if they have too much work to manage on the client side.
  4. Those team members who commit themselves to a learning sprint will form a group to collectively upskill themselves.
  5. A new Slack channel titled #fls will be created for these people to coordinate.
  6. At the end of the sprint, certificates will be distributed to people after a short test to validate that they have acquired the skills.
  7. The best performer will win a cash prize of 1000.
  8. After a #FLS is completed, we will add content in Quick Learn for people to study in the future.

Note: This is optional. and people can decide for themselves if they want to participate in it or not. Although how people upgraded themselves is taken into account when doing performance reviews.
