#COMET Quarterly Learning Goals
Objective:
In accordance with our cultural value of Life Long Learning and to promote learning culture within the team, we have built a mechanism named #COMET Quarterly Learning goals to up-skill team members on a quarterly basis. In this team members set up a learning goal every quarter in accordance with company guidelines or their future aspirations. Following are the main objectives of the #COMET Quarterly Learning Goals.
-
Up-skilling of current employees.
-
Preparing people for future assignments so they do not feel stuck on one thing for an extended period.
-
Increasing productivity and invoking the feeling of making a valuable contribution.
-
Helping Employees with relevant certifications.
-
Maintaining technical health of teams by ensuring people have enough skill set for their role and helping team members to grow into the higher roles in their team.
Process Guidelines for Quarterly Goals:
- Company will share Quarterly Goals Set Up Guidelines which informs team members about the direction the company is moving towards technically. Team members can use these guidelines and decide what they want to learn and in which technology they want to upskill themselves. Department heads can also suggest some learning goals to team members.
- Employees will set Quarterly goals by themselves so that team leads spend little time on this activity. The team lead can suggest or guide the member in choosing a goal aligned with the Crownstack vision. However, the final decision to pick a goal is with the employees.
- This goal-setting will occur in the first 1-2 weeks of each quarter, ideally when the Quarterly review ends and the new Quarter begins.
- Goals will be managed through Quick Team, and progress will be tracked through comments made on these goals by team leads or team members themselves.
- The employee will regularly document the progress of the goal on the Quick Team.
- The team lead will review the progress on a goal in a bi-weekly 1:1 meeting with the employee and update their KPI accordingly.
- The team lead will update the goal completion status during each quarter’s performance review.
- The status of completion of learning goals will play an essential role in the rating of quarterly performance.
- Performance reviews and appraisals will consider the response to #COMET quarterly goals.
General Guidelines for #COMET Quarterly goals:
- We are not forcing employees to learn anything; this is purely an employee’s personal effort. Also, if people are not responding to our calls and reminders to set their learning goals or make progress on those goals, we will not spend time on them.
- The employee’s learning goals should align with the company’s growth plans.
- If people decide to learn something that is not in line with the company’s goal, we are not stopping them from learning that, but we are not considering that as a # COMET quarterly goal and will not take it into consideration in performance reviews.
- The team lead facilitates people’s decision-making about learning goals, but the individual is responsible for ensuring that his/her learning goals are in Quick Team for every quarter. No one else is responsible for this but the individual himself/herself.
- Also, it is the person’s responsibility to ensure regular updates on goals.
- Individuals can decide on goals for themselves, and they can contact their Team lead for assistance or guidance if needed.
Directly Responsible Individual (DRI) - The Team Lead ensures that the whole process is managed properly and tracks the progress of initiating and completing the COMET quarterly goal. But team members are responsible for setting and updating goals. Team lead is just to help them throughout the process. Employees themselves are responsible for their learning goals and therefore should be considered DRI for this process.
