Introduction to Quicklabs
Summary:
Quicklabs is an internal product development studio at Crownstack where our team builds useful products that can be used by our team as well as our customers. Not only that, we have open-sourced everything in Quicklabs, making it useful for a lot of teams.
Objectives:
Quicklabs serves the following objective for us:
- Upskilling team members: A lot of times, our team members express their desire to learn different technologies that are not their core skill. For example, a frontend developer might want to upgrade himself and build backend skills. In such a scenario, they want some practical experience on some live projects. Our projects in Quicklabs serve this very purpose.
- Idle Time: Sometimes when projects end, it might take us some time to onboard people on new projects. While awaiting deployment on the next project, individuals can utilise their idle time to work on Quicklabs. No one sits idle.
- Onboarding: When new team members join our team, we might need to train them on how we work here at Crownstack. Our blog, documentation, and projects in Quicklabs are used for this purpose. New joiners want to quickly get their hands on projects but it might not be possible for us to immediately deploy them to client projects; therefore, we can keep new joiners engaged in Quicklabs. They not only learn new things on internal projects but it also makes them ready for client projects as well.
- Training Juniors: When we have freshers or junior team members in our team, we use Quicklabs to train these team members. This gives them real world experience.
