Building Thought Leadership

Building Thought Leadership

Summary:

One of the core tenets of Crownstack’s E.L.A.S.T.I.C Culture is Life Long Learning which we encourage through our quarterly #COMET Learning goals and various other initiatives we have implemented. Building thought Leadership takes this one step further where we share our learning progress through our social media channels. We want to achieve the following objectives by sharing our content:

  1. Build our skills and grow in our careers.
  2. Present ourselves as an expert in what we do and therefore establish ourselves as a thought leader in our work domain.
  3. Keep our current customers and prospects engaged which will help in the sales pipeline.
  4. To attract some good teammates to work with us in the future.
  5. Publish content which can also serve as training material if needed in the future.

Extension of #COMET Goals and how to contribute

Please note that this is nothing new but an extension of #COMET goals where teammates can document their learning in such a way that it can be published and shared with the world. Therefore at the end of #COMET goal completion, team members can publish their content and as usual, this is optional for team members and will not be enforced on anyone. Our primary distribution channel will be our blog and Linkedin. The content can be one of the following types:

Content-TypeContent DescriptionExample
Case Studies/EbooksA lengthy form of PDF listing a detailed explanation of something already done or a strategyExample
Blog PostsA normal blog postExample
Short PDF LessonsSmall PDF for sharing short bullet pointsExample
Book SummariesSummaries of technical books and what you learned
VideosVideos about features you implemented or videos explaining some conceptsExample

Nature of content

  1. The content should be Original.
  2. The content should aim to answer customer’s questions. Like “How to reduce your AWS bills?” Remember the rule “They ask, you answer.” Think from the customer’s point of view and what kind of answers they are looking for.
  3. Avoid building guides or documentation which can be found on the internet. It should be your own version of how you do things.
  4. The content should be lengthy and the focus should be on Quality.
  5. If the content is technical, it should answer or solve queries of people. It should not be another form of documentation which people can find from original sources.

Recognition of efforts under #CORE

Since this exercise is completely optional, we have award category for best content under #CORE to appreciate the efforts of team members who work on it. Some quick guidelines for selecting winners are listed below

  1. Quality of content, frequency of publishing, originality, and impact are considered while selecting winners.
  2. This is an individual award and not a Team award.
  3. The award has three levels Gold, Silver, and Bronze as listed in the table below.
  4. People may or may not win the awards depending if the content criteria are met or not. There might be times when no award is given if the content produced does not meet the criteria.
  5. The management will decide the winners.
  6. The award will be given quarterly during our quarterly performance review cycle.
  7. The award will be given only if the content is approved for publishing.
